Cooper elected to Goodwill Board of Directors
Rep. Dan Cooper, chairman of the South Carolina House Ways and Means Committee, has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries of the Upstate/Midlands South Carolina, Inc. Cooper becomes one of 25 board members who will provide general oversight, direction and support to assist the organization in fulfilling its mission of "helping people with disabilities and other special needs become fully independent citizens through education, training, and employment leading to job placement." Elected by the current board members, his term begins in January 2010 and will continue through January 2013. "Goodwill is pleased and honored to have Rep. Dan Cooper join its Board of Directors," said Goodwill of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina, Inc.'s President and CEO Patrick Michaels. "Cooper's exemplary record of public service, demonstrated concern for all the citizens of South Carolina, as well as his background in commercial insurance ensure that he will make an immediate and positive contribution to Goodwill's mission."
